Ergonis Software celebrates ten years of Typinator with new version 6.6

Typinator 6.6

With the release of version 6.6, Ergonis Software celebrates the tenth anniversary of Typinator, their text expander — my personal favourite. Along with the new version, Ergonis Software published two new Typinator sets for easy access to Apple’s Color Emoji font symbols introduced in OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. To celebrate Typinator’s tenth anniversary, Ergonis Software is offering a 25% discount on new purchases before July 15th, 2015. The offer is good for all Ergonis products, including PopChar and KeyCue.

Typinator has been my favourite text expansion app for three years now, while it has been available since June 2005. I kept postponing creating my own shortcuts until Christoph Reichenberger, Ergonis Software’s CEO, gently pushed me to try it out. I did, trying out different expanders and found Typinator the most powerful by far. I must admit a good text expander saves a lot of time and it can be fun too. While other people will prefer other text expanders, I have always found Typinator to offer something “special” that turns the app into a real solution — i.e. it will work with any sort of requirement (Think about the RegEx capability, which isn’t a simple feature but extremely powerful).

Typinator 6.6

With the release of the latest major version 6, Ergonis Software added more than 50 new features and improvements. Support for regular expressions is truly unique, but Typinator is also very fast, robust, and easy to use. Typinator 6.6 continues along this path and even improves the updating experience by adding the convenience of informing you about/installing new versions. When a new version is available, you can now check the new features and enhancements prior to downloading. The built-in installer has been upgraded to support the new functions and appearance of Yosemite, and helps with purchasing and updating licenses when the current license does not cover the new version. The new version now works with the Pinyin input methods for Chinese and uses less memory when idle. In addition, it includes improved compatibility with third-party products like 4th Dimension and MatLab.

Together with the new version 6.6, Ergonis Software released two new free sets to get the most out of the new Apple Color Emoji font that comes with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. The Emoji 3.0 set contains all skin tone variants of all applicable Emoji symbols. In addition to skin tones, the new version contains more consistent names and shows the standard Unicode names of the symbols. The new Flags set allows you to easily insert colour flags into your text, without requiring knowledge of the technical details. Just type “flag” and the country code or a part of the country name into Typinator’s Quick Search field to enter the desired flag into your document.

The extra sets can be downloaded free of charge from and installed into Typinator with just a double-click.

Typinator 6.6 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or newer and is fully compatible with OS X Yosemite (10.10). Typinator can be purchased securely on the Ergonis Software website. To claim your birthday discount, simply enter coupon code “TYPINATOR10YEARS”. The coupon code is good for all Ergonis products, including PopChar and KeyCue, but not for upgrades.
